Japanese skincare and makeup products

Hi!

Today I bring you a review of some Japanese skincare and makeup products that I have recently tried. I recently subscribed to No Make No Life subscription box, which is a Japanese service which selects skincare, hair care and makeup products (5-7 each month) and sends them to your home monthly. To date, I have received two boxes, June and July’s boxes. I’m happy with the selection of products, though I would sincerely like a faster shipping. Theoretically, the box should arrive between 20th and 28th every month, but I always receive it at least one week later. I think it’s not the company’s fault, mostly it’s Spanish mail system working badly, but anyway, this is the only con I see for this service. Botanigrace Coconut Oil

Price: 7.5 € / 8.9 $

Where to buy?: I only found it at cosme.net, a Japanese website on skincare and makeup.

Review: The product consists of coconut oil in a cream carrier, so supposedly it is more convenient to apply, as coconut oil is more of a mess. I have tried it only as a body lotion, as coconut oil is too greasy for my combination skin, but it fulfils its duty, and leaves my skin smooth and with an amazing tropical scent which resists nearly all day. It clearly reminds me of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen scent.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 9/10 / No. The reason why I wouldn’t repurchase it’s because though it’s a great product, it would be too expensive to buy overseas and I can buy coconut oil in my country, which even being a less convenient format (oil), will be cheaper and will get more product. However, I want to clearly state that this product is really good.

Country & Stream Honey UV Water Gel SPF 32 PA+++

Price: around 18 € / 21 $

Review: This is a moderately high protection sunscreen. Japanese people, especially women wear sunscreen on a daily basis and over all their body, not only to protect skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, but because unlike us westerners, they don’t like tan skin, their beauty ideal is having skin as white and pure as they can. So, you can imagine that sunscreen technology is far more developed there than in our countries. What I rave about this product is that it’s the only sunscreen that I have tried in my life that does not leave a sticky residue. For real. The consistency is, as the name says, a water gel. Once put on your skin it melts and is really easy to spread. A minute after application, it’s as if it had disappeared from your skin. Amazing! Also, the protection is really ok for my skin, as I’m around phototype III to IV (I usually have white skin because I don’t like sun tanning, but if I’m outside I easily tan without burning my skin). You can use this sunscreen both in your face and body. Also, it contains 8 organic extracts, honey, royal jelly, collagen and hyaluronic acid. I love it!

Score / Would I repurchase?: 10/10 / Yes. This product is amazing enough to buy it overseas. I have tried many sunscreens (Vichy, Roche, you name it), and all have left some kind of sticky and white residue, and I don’t really trust spray sunscreens, so I think I will repurchase this one.

Lumi Deco Nail Decals

Price: 15 € / 18 $

Review: These nail decals are really cool. They are not your usual nail decals. The quality of the print is gorgeous and they also have glitter on them. I have not still used them, as I’m waiting for my nails to grow a little more, but I’m eager to put them on. The most incredible thing about these decals is the fact that one of the decals has a light on them which lights up when you use your phone or a metro/bus card. I think this is really cute.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 9/10 / Maybe. These decals are amazing, but also difficult to get outside of Japan, that is why I lowered the score a little, buy they are really cute.

Candy Doll Lip & Cheek Cream

Price: around 13 € / 15 $ on Ebay

Where to buy?: Ebay

Review: This product can be used both on the lips and the cheeks. I had never used a duo product like this one, so I used it on my lips first. I thought it would be the usual low pigmented pink, but it is highly pigmented and super creamy! It felt like using chapstick but with a cute pink colour. Also, it lasted much longer than I thought. It even resisted eating and drinking to some extent. I have not used as a blush, as that baby pink doesn’t go well with my skin tone.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 8/10 / Yes. It did last longer than I thought, was creamy and felt good on my lips. However, in my case, it was not good as a blush.

Makeup block tool

Price: n/a

Where to buy?: I was not able to find it online, as I can’t read the brand on the package. I suppose there would be brushes like these sold by other brands, but I could not find the exact one for the one I received.

Review: This brush combo is really useful. You save space and they are good quality even not being “complete” brushes. I have used the lip brush several times and it is great for applying cream lipsticks.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 9/10 / Maybe. I would repurchase it if it was let’s say under 10€.

Profael Massage Jelly Body Mask

Price: 6.2 € / 6.5 $

Where to buy?: Yesstyle or Amazon.jp

Review: This product is a body mask for using on the shower. You shower like you usually do and then use it like a skin conditioner. I has a VERY strong herbal smell. At first I didn’t like that smell, because it was really really strong, but when using it on the shower, it is lighter. I smells like rosemary, but theoretically has more than 30 plant extracts on them. The texture is like a water gel, really comfortable and easy to spread. After washing it off it left a really subtle scent on the skin. However, if you have a relatively dry skin like mine, it won’t be enough on its own. I have to use my regular body lotion after it and honestly it loses some of its usefulness if you can’t use it alone. It is a good additional product, but in my opinion can’t be used alone.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 8/10 / No. It is a good product and has a pleasant and relaxing scent for a relaxing shower or bath, but does not hydrate my skin sufficiently.

Sweets-Sweets Air Moisturizing CC Cream

Price: around 13 € / 15 $

Where to buy?: Amazon

Review: This is a CC Cream for colour correction, pore minimising, skin tone brightener and sun protection. I received it in tone peach. At first, I was super excited to receive this CC cream, because I thought it would also act as a light foundation, like many of the CC creams available in Spain, but nope, it did not. This was a disappointment, as I wanted to try a product which had all the benefits in one. The product acts like it states, but it is a little too peachy/pink for people with a yellow undertone (like my case), so take this into account. Also, I felt like it was a little too heavy, so I was like, if the cc cream is this heavy, how is it going to feel after I put on my foundation? Super heavy and not funny for summer time and combination skin. I’m really sad, because I was super hype with this CC cream but it didn’t work for me. It doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I think it is a good product, but better for people with pink undertones and dry to normal skin.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 7/10 / No. I didn’t work for me.

Peelingood Peeling Gel Kit

Price: n/a

Where to buy?: I was unable to find it online, even on Amazon.jp

Review: This is a kit for soft peeling. It is supposed to be a kind of exfoliation system and contains papain, hydrolysed collagen and lemon fruit extract. The product comes in a tube, and you use a special cotton swab each time you use it for application an to avoid contamination (super cool idea). It smells like lemon sorbet (yummy!) and has a sticky gel texture when spread on your face. You have to leave it for a while until you see it is dry and has formed white clots. The packet says these clots are your dead cells “melting” but don’t believe it, it’s just the product drying up xD. It is supposed to act as a peeling but I didn’t see that effect on my skin. What I did notice, however, is that my pores looked smaller! In my case, it acted more like a toner than a peeling product. Also, my skin was a little softer. However, if you are looking for a peeling effect, it doesn’t have it.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 7/10 / Maybe. Though it didn’t meet my expectations, as surprisingly it was more like a toner, it felt and smelled good, and improved my skin a little.

Hollywood Orchid Enzyme Mask

Price: 3.3 € / 4 $

Where to buy?: Amazon

Review: This is a enzyme based mask to improve skin appearance and softness. I have not used it yet, but it looks nice. The components come separated in liquid and powder and you mix them right before application.

Score / Would I repurchase?: Don’t know until I try it.

Browtician Tweezers + Compact Mirror

Price: n/a

Where to buy?: I couldn’t find them on regular websites

Review: I’m a little confused with these tweezers, because the brand is Australian. However, they seem to be very popular on Japan, and that’s why they seemingly added them on the box. Nevertheless, these tweezers are really nice. I got the slanted tip ones (there was also a point tic version) and they pluck the hairs out really nicely and without pain. I’m happy with them. Also, they came in a small case with a compact mirror, perfect for travelling or for carrying them around in your bag.

Score / Would I repurchase?: 10/10 / Yes. They have a really good quality/price relation.

That’s all for the Japanese products for now. To date, I’m happy with the quality of the products I have received, but I have to admit that I would like to see more makeup and more high-end brands even if that meant less products. Mini Taobao Haul Winter 2017

 

Hi everyone!

How’s the beginning of 2017 going? For my part, I’ve finished my PhD and I’m looking for a job in my research area (biomedicine), which is getting complicated, and it’s making me reeeally stressed, but I decided to write this new post to de-stress a little and show you the new things I got from Taobao. I know I told you in the last post that the next one would be about Aliexpress, but lately I’ve been receiving many more things from this website, and I’m still adding items to the post, so writing this one was shorter and faster. I hope you enjoy it!

Sweet lavender cardigan

Price:  68 yuan (9.2 euro)

Quality & Style: 9/10. This winter, I really wanted to buy cute and comfortable cardigans, because lately I’ve been into wearing leggings with them. This combination is really comfy when I don’t feel like wearing tight clothes. The quality is great, and it’s just as pictured and the lace is really cute. The sleeves are wide, so you feel like wearing nothing, it’s very comfortable. However, I didn’t knew the sleeves were going to be so wide, so that’s why I’m lowering the score a little. I’ve bought from this store before, and to date, I’m happy with the service. However, as soon as I bought this cardigan, it sold out, so it’s not available anymore.

Chinese ethnic top

Price:  55 yuan (7.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. Some time ago I discovered that there were stores in Taobao and Aliexpress which were selling Chinese style clothing, but with a modern touch, so you didn’t look like a Chinese woman straight from History books and it could be worn in the street, not only for cosplay or photoshooting purposes. I really liked the idea of mixing this style with Western-style clothes, just like I usually do with Japanese and Korean clothes, so I bought this top. It is GREAT quality, I didn’t expect it to be so good. The fabric is thick, comfortable and stretchy, a real win. I LOVE it!

Girly flower cape

Price:  68 yuan (9.2 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. OMG, when I first saw this cape, the first that came to my mind was Beauty and the Beast and a little cape I had when I was a child. The photos for this product were so angelical and pretty that I couldn’t resist buying it haha. I know that maybe I won’t wear it as much as I would like, because in my city, we step from bitter cold to very hot, but for the rare spring weather days, I will wear it for sure. I really recommend this cape, the quality is perfect, and just like the top, I bought it from the same store. It is a waist-long cape, maybe a little more depending on your height, and the flower and leaves pattern is really delicate and beautiful. It also has white lining, so it’s thick enough for spring or autumn days. As you may have guessed by now, this store is now on my favorite list, and I will come back for sure for more cool things.

Sailor moon inspired earrings

Price:  3.99 yuan (0.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. I know some of you will freak out, but I never watched Sailor Moon as a child. Yes, I know, I’m a strange girl xD. I was more into Marmalade Boy and Dragon Ball, but the other day, thinking about new series to watch, I said to myself, what if I watch Sailor Moon? And after loving the first chapters, I really wanted to buy some Sailor Moon jewelry. I found many stores selling cute (and CHEAP) jewelry, so I decided to get some. These earrings are perfect, just like pictured, and I really love wearing them. I don’t know how much they will last, but hey, they were less than 0.5 EUR!!! They have sold out in this seller store, but if you use the words “Sailor Moon earrings” on Taobao search tool, you will find many sellers have them.

Sailor Moon inspired necklace

 Price:  3.5 yuan (0.47 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. The pattern is similar to the one of the earrings. It is very good quality too for that incredibly cheap price. The only con I saw is that I thought it would be more like a sweater chain, but its length is standard, not a big deal though.

Kittens and flowers earrings

Price:  10.5 yuan (1.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. While looking for stores which were selling Sailor Moon inspired jewelry I came up with these cute earrings. I’m not sure if they are inspired in something; they have cats, is there anything more to say? :D. I added them to my cart instantly. They were a little more expensive than the other jewelry but, seriously, 1.5 EUR isn’t even a price, they were dirt cheap even so. They are just as pictured, very nice quality, worth the buy.

 

Starry cloud earrings

Price:  13.8 yuan (1.9 euro)

Quality & Style: 9/10. These earring were another last-minute buy. I found them surfing the store that was selling the kitty earrings. I found they were really cute and original, so I also bought them. They have great quality, just like you see in the stock photo. However, what I don’t like is that the moon is the part you stick to your ear, and it’s movable. It’s really unstable when you are trying to put them on, the moon and cloud part don’t stop moving over each other. Also, I feel like once put on, they squish my earlobe hahaha. It’s not like they are uncomfortable, they are a little heavy, yes (that was to expect seeing its size) but it’s the looks that I don’t totally like. They make my ear lobe look squished. I will try to wear them looser to see if they look better. Even with this con, I really wanted to have this design, so I won’t lower the score more.

So this was my Taobao Haul for this Winter. This time it was a smaller haul, because I have to save money, but I still wanted to give myself a little gift to balance out bad things in my life these days.

New cool craft! Diamond Paintings

Hello lovelies!

At last, I’m able to post a new review. As I explained on my Facebook page, it’s been a busy, difficult and bad 2016 for me, so I had to stop posting, though I created a list with some ideas, so that I could write them when the time was right. So, that time has come!

Today, I want to talk about a cool craft that I just discovered some months ago. It’s called “Diamond painting” or “Rhinestones cross stitch”. When I was a teenager, I used to do cross stitch, it helped me focus and stay calm, specially when exams were around, and, in addition, the result was really nice I must say. I have never considered cross stitch a “grandma” craft, though I’m aware than some people do.

So, lately I have been surfing Aliexpress a lot (I will post a mega haul soon :D), and I accidentally discovered this new version of cross stitch. The idea is similar to that of cross stitch: you select a photo (it can be a pre-made photo or picture or a custom-made one), they create the pattern for you, with instructions of which color should go in every square, and they provide you with little shiny square rhinestones instead of cross stitch threads. You can also find some sellers provide round instead of square-shaped rhinestones, but I don’t think the result is the same, as you won’t fill the squares as with square-shaped rhinestones.

I haven’t found this type of craft anywhere else, maybe some sellers sell it on Ebay too, but I think it’s more widely spread on Aliexpress. Here you can see some examples of how the original photo looks and how it ends up looking after finishing it (I don’t own any of the following pictures, they are here only for me to show you how they look):

 

 

You can see they look really cool, specially with bright-colored pictures, though the custom-made ones are cute too, just don’t expect your photo to look exactly like the original, because the rhinestone colors are limited, but the same happens with thread colors in the classic cross stitch.

Seeing that it was cool and I could have fun with this craft, I decided to buy two sets. One as a gift for my mother (Christmas is nearly here! :)), which features a lovely lady in a beautiful landscape (pre-made), and another one which features my boyfriend and me (custom-made from a photo). Both were bought from different sellers, but the general presentation is the same: for relatively big designs (over 40x50cm), Aliexpress sellers send you a rectangular box (smaller ones usually come in a bag) containing the pattern covered with a sticky surface and with the color and symbol guide, a little rhinestones tray, a pencil tool, some twizzers and a special “glue” to put in the pencil, thus helping rhinestones to stick to it. Both arrived in good conditions, with plenty of rhinestones from every color (both sellers included more rhinestones than necessary, which I am grateful for) and the design is cool. The pattern comes covered with a special papel (like the one in stickers), so you can rip bits of it as you progress in the image.

I am currently just starting the custom-made one (just made a corner, because it’s pretty big), which will be my 8^th anniversary gift for my boyfriend 🙂 and I think it looks pretty good, let’s see how it looks when it is finished.

I can’t still tell how the other one will look, as it is a gift for my mother, but I like it so much that I think in the future I will get myself that design too. This is the design I chose for my mother’s gift:

In my case, the service of these two sellers was good, I hope it is for you too if you decide to try this craft. There are many other sellers too. My recommendations if you want to try Diamond Paintings are that you should always choose a pattern over 30x40cm, 40x50cm or bigger would be even better (with exception of very small pictures), and it’s safer to choose bright-colored pictures or pictures with lots of contrast. Big Taobao Haul Summer/Fall 2015

Hi everyone! How has your summer gone?! Mine was very busy because I’m in my final PhD year and I didn’t really had vacations… But I did get a Taobao Haul! 🙂

I’m really happy this time because many of the clothes I got were originals from Japan brands (yes, you heard well!). They were really cheap and obviously they had some minor flaws, but nothing I could not repair to enjoy the amazing clothes that are ultimately sold in Japan shops.

I hope you enjoy this haul and that it gives you inspiration for you Taobao shopping.

Strapless blue and floral maxi dress

Price: 58 yuan (8.2 euro)

Quality & Style: 9/10. I’ve been searching for the perfect maxi dress for summer all my life. I love the flower and cute style of Korean and Japanese summer dresses and Taobao was the only place where I could find them for cheap. I loved the originality and cuteness of this dress so I ordered it. When I received the dress I was very scared because the bust area was SO small, but it’s incredibly stretchable and fits very well up to 90cm I would say (so one size fits all in this case means: 60-90cm for bust area). I love the style, but as usual, it has a “but”: the fabric is very thin, though it’s OK for a summer maxi dress, but if you take a look on the inside… The sewing is not very good, it has loose threads all over and the lining is very cheap. However when you wear it, none of these things are seen so that’s the reason why I give it a 9/10, because for that price I think it’s a fair score and you look flawless when wearing it with wedges.

 

Floral bohemian maxi dress

Price: 89 yuan (12.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 7/10. Well, this dress was a little disappointing. I bought it from the same seller as the other maxi dress, and the fabric and sewing quality was better so I thought this dress would be more flattening… But when I tried it on, it looked weird on me… It fitted well, but it was like straight from the knee to the ankle, it had no flare… I don’t know but it just didn’t looked well :(.

 

Floral chiffon dress

Price: 89 yuan (12.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 8/10. This is a chiffon dress with a zipper on the side. It only fits a XS, so take this into account if you like it. This seller seems to be selling original Japanese brands with minor/small flaws, as this dress and the two following blouses had all small flaws. This dress concretely had the zipper bad sewn, and it took some help from my mother to fix it, but now it’s good to wear. I consider that with that price and seemingly being an original, the flaw was OK, but it required some work so that explains my lower score. It fits like a glove and gives you a very cute look.

 

Cream and green chiffon blouse

Price: 68 yuan (9.6 euro)

Quality & Style: 9.5/10. I was super excited with this blouse! The chiffon is great quality, the design is beautiful and cute, the details are great. However, as I said, this blouse came from the same seller as the previous floral dress, and that meant that it could have some kind of flaw. In this case, the straps were sewn twisted. So I had to separate the straps and re-sew them correctly, but it was an easy fix and guess what?: It was an Axes Femme blouse.

 

Pink chiffon and mesh blouse

Price: 58 yuan (8.2 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. This blouse was the one with the best quality from the three items that I got from this seller. The flag was a tiny rub in the bottom area, the one you would normally wear under the jeans so that is like if the blouse was in perfect condition for me. The tag was ripped off, I wonder why. The fabric is thick and very good quality and it is seemingly a Repipi armario original.

 

Brown lace dress (now sold out :()

Price: 69.9 yuan (9.8 euro)

Quality & Price: 10/10. This dress was just perfect, I have nothing to say except that I love it. At first, I wanted the white one but when I received it and tried it on I changed my mind. It’s lined with brown satin and the lace is very good quality. It comes with a lace belt too. Apparently, it’s a Liz Lisa replica.

 

Floral pants

Price: 69.9 yuan (9.8 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. These pants were just as seen in the picture. To me it seems like they are original Liz Lisa pants. The size was accurate and they were really cheap for the great quality. Very cozy for next fall/winter.

 

Ruffled chiffon blouse (no longer available in the seller shop :()

Price: 89 yuan (12.5 euro)

Quality & Style: 9.5/10. I spent a little more money on this blouse compared to the other clothes because I fell in love with it as soon as I found it on Taobao. The style and quality is just as seen on the picture. One of the ruffles was a little folded, but it has an easy fix. I love the furry texture of the dots decorating the blouse. Very recommended for spring, summer or even fall.

 

White dots blouse + Khaki shorts with suspenders and satin belt

Price: 95 yuan (13.4 euro)

Quality & Style: 9/10. The interesting thing about this purchase is the fact that it’s a set. I like sets because you don’t have to think about buying something to match the specific clothes you bought, with sets you have it all! The quality is good, not as good as the one from the previous clothes I showed you, but good enough to wear and look good. The tags read “Cissei”, I’m not sure if it’s an original, but I’m OK with that.

 

Chocolate resin necklace

Price: 42 yuan (5.9 euro)

Quality & Style: 9/10. I love it! This seller had also donough necklaces, cake necklaces… yummy! Next time I will get another one! The length is similar to that of sweater necklaces, just a little shorter. I gave it a 9 because I thought the finish would be more shiny and polished, but it was a little like child plastic toys. Very cute though.

 

Kitten and fish silver bracelet

Price: 40 yuan (5.6 euro)

Quality & Style: 10/10. I love cats! So I definitely needed this bracelet. It’s worth the price. I tried to search for the same bracelet on Aliexpress and Ebay but it was way more expensive, and this one was just perfect. Very recommended!

Taobao and Tmall shops compilation

Hi everyone!

Today I bring you a compilation of Taobao and Tmall shops that I’ve been collecting along time.

At this point, I bet everyone knows about Taobao, but what about Tmall? Tmall is basically the same as Taobao, but the sellers are mostly the factories producing the items itselves. I have heard that for this reason, the quality of the items should be even better than that of Taobao items, but to date, I’ve seen no difference, I mean, I found Taobao items were as good as Tmall ones, so if you pay attention to the seller score, you can order from Taobao or Tmall indistinctly.

So, how does the score ranking work for Taobao and Tmall? It’s very simple. In the case of Taobao, you only have to have a look at the symbols every seller shop has: hearts, diamonds, blue crowns and golden crowns. When sellers get a positive review, they start to accumulate hearts, up to 5, and then they get diamonds, and so on, so five golden crowns would be the maximum: a shop that sells a lot and always gets good reviews.

You can see in the picture a review of Taobao score system. The numbers in the left are the positive reviews the shop received, and in the right you have the equivalent score in symbols.

In the case of Tmall, the score is even easier to understand. The seller gets a score ranging from 0 to 5, the closer to 5, the better. And that’s all!!!

However, I wanted to highlight that, while it is safer to choose a seller with at least one blue crown (that’s what I usually do), you don’t always have to avoid sellers with lower scores. I mean, imagine that you want an item that’s not very usual. You could expect to find that the seller selling it has, let’s say, two diamonds while at the same time, when you look at the specific reviews of the item you want, it has very good reviews. It’s a matter of logic. And sometimes, some shops are very new and it’s impossible they have the same positive reviews that a shop who’s been open for five years! So, if you are looking for an item and you can’t find a seller with very good reviews, you can give other sellers a try, just look at the specific reviews of the item you want.

In general, I would say to not trust a seller who sells the item you want for incredibly cheap prices (like if you see a Liz Lisa replica dress for 3$), UNLESS that seller and item has MANY reviews and some photos for you to see if it’s worth it. With time, you will learn how to choose sellers, don’t worry! If it’s your first buy in Taobao or Tmall, then I would go for a minimum of one blue crown (or a minimum of 4.7/5 in Tmall) for you to be calm about the items you are getting, and don’t forget having a look at the photos the buyers post in the review area of the item!!!!

Taobao sandals and sneakers review!

It’s time for the Taobao shoes review! As you would imagine by now, I love Taobao! It has endless cute things to buy, and I usually make an order as soon as I have some spare money. I spend lots of time surfing the website and I even make wishlists and then favorite lists to select only some of the items because I like so many things! :D. I’ve always used Taobaoring as my intermediate agent, and I’m very happy with their service. I nearly always use EMS as shipping service because it’s fast, but I’m considering using SAL or Airmail in the future for bigger orders, as EMS always means custom taxes… In this case, as the order were only two pair of shoes I used Singapore Airmail.

But let’s start with the review! I had a really hard time finding cute sneakers and sandals at the beginning of summer so I decided to look for some cute shoes in Taobao. They ended costing the same or even a little more than if I’d have bought them in Spain because of the shipping costs, but certainly they are more special and cute than anything I could ever find in Spain shops!

Light blue canvas and lace sneakers

The shape is the usual for sneakers, but they have some nice details: the “lace” fabric in the lateral gives the sneakers a really special and cute look, they also have zipper pieces as decoration and I really love the white dots over light blue background color of the fabric. I have decided the best way to wear them is with socks in pastel light colors as the lateral lace is a very transparent.

Price: 49 yuans (~ 7.9 USD or 7.2 euro)

Colors: available in light blue and dark blue.

Brand: offbrand

Pros:

• They are really cute, I didn’t even know that this kind of sneakers existed until I found them in Taobao by chance.
• They are very comfy as they have a thick insole.
• The sizing the seller provides is accurate and they fit perfectly! Just for reference, my feet measure 24cm, so I usually wear a EUR38 and that would correspond with Chinese 39, which is the size I got.
• They are really cheap!
• …Did I said they are the most cute sneakers I’ve ever had? 😀

Cons:

• The lace part doesn’t seem like it’s going to last forever, but hey it’s OK for the cheap price and I thought it was really worth to wear them for whatever they last.
• One of the zippers in the right sneaker hurts a little in the ankle but I think it’s because I need to soften them a little by wearing them.

Overall score: 9.5/10

Pink pastel sandals with rhinestones

I was tired of the same boring flat or low-heeled sandals every summer, so I started my Taobao journey to find the perfect sandals, and I think I found them!

Price: 109 yuans (~17.55 USD or 16 euro)

Colors: available in pastel blue, pastel pink and white

Brand: Selftrend. I did my research and I think it’s an original Korean shoes brand, not a replica of some kind. That would explain the higher price and also the higher quality.

Pros:

• Very cute!
• Sooooo comfy. I was amazed at how comfy the insole of these sandals are. They have some platform but you don’t even notice it. Great!
• The strap is like a hook, so they are really fast to put on and also to remove.
• I think the price is really OK for the material quality, they look durable.
• The size is accurate, as I said my feet measure 24cm and this time I got the Chinese size 38 because with open shoes, I don’t like them being too big.

Cons:

• The front part is a little lifted upwards. I think this is one of the reasons why they are so comfortable, because they somewhat adapt to the footsteps, but when you are static, that part makes the toes look a little strange. Maybe it’s just my appreciation, and it’s only a little con.

Overall score: 9.5/10

Born Pretty Store haul

Hi lovelies!

As I promised, here is my Born Pretty Store haul.

Born Pretty Store is a Chinese-based beauty shop specialized in nail art, but it also sells makeup, beauty tools, etc. They claim they offer free shipping for everything but be careful because -at least in the case of Spain- they made me pay for the shipping claiming that it should be necessarily tracked, I could not chose non-tracked shipping to get the free shipping :(. Nevertheless, it’s a great site to buy beauty things and the prices are affordable and sometimes even very cheap. A big pro of Born Pretty store is that you can use Paypal, which I always prefer for safety reasons, and that they offer coupons and money-exchangeable points for every product review you leave. The shipping times are the usual for Chinese Airmail: 15-30 days. If you have any more questions about the shop, just ask :).

So, on with the haul. The products I chose this time – I ordered twice in the past- are mainly beauty and makeup products. Enjoy!

Pink nail polish

I wanted a nail polish which looked a little like porcelain, so I chose this one (color 831).

Price: 2.87 USD (~2.5 euro)

Pros: Cute packaging

Cons: It is REALLY small. I don’t know why I didn’t realize that when I ordered it (maybe I was only looking at the cute packaging…). In addition, it is very sticky and difficult to apply uniformly and doesn’t look good even with two or three layers. I’m really disappointed with this nail polish, as I was really looking for this pink tone.

Score: 3/10

Foundation Blender Sponge

Just a blender sponge which I saw many girls used to blend makeup foundation and I wanted to give it a try.

Price: 1.99 USD (~1.8 euro)

Pros: Very thick material, serves well its purpose.

Cons: Nothing to say, maybe the same as with any blender sponge: it’s really difficult to clean!

Score: 10/10

Orange-ish liquid blush

I wanted to try a liquid blush because I’ve always used powder blush, and always in pink tone, so I said “let’s give orange a try”. I ordered the #01 tone.

Price: 4.8 USD (~4.3 euro)

Pros: Easy to apply and blend with the skin or foundation, subtle effect (for those of you who doesn’t like “strong” blush effect).

Cons: It’s a little greasy, and maybe some of you would prefer a stronger coloration, like the one powder blush give.

Score: 8/10

Shimmer silver eyeliner

The story of this eyeliner was pretty annoying. I ordered number 01, which looks somewhat like a silver-pink color… But guess what??? I received a gold eyeliner, ta-ra!!! I was really annoyed because I hate gold eyeliner and the stock picture was very misleading. I received a color more like number 2, when I wanted that special silver-pink tone… meh. I gave it a good use however, as I discovered it looked really good if I applied only a fine line in the inner corner of my eyes, thus obtaining something like “innocent-look” eyes which I finally liked.

Price: 4.99 USD (~4.5 euro)

Pros: It gives the eyes a very fresh, bright and innocent look and lasts very long. Good quality.

Cons: Beware the colors shown in the picture, they are very misleading. Number 1 is totally gold… The packaging was a little different too, but it’s no big deal.

Score: 8/10 (because of the color, not the quality)

Waterproof matte lipgloss/liptint

Do you remember all those tv spots about expensive lipgloses/liptints/etc which promise 24h-lasting results??? Forget them all!!! This lipgloss REALLY lasts all day. The reality is that I couldn’t remove it until I used olive oil!!! It resists everything!!! And the price? Ridiculous! Just one thing to say: AMAZING, I need to get them all!!! I got number 1

Price: 1.99 USD (~1.8 euro)

Pros: REALLY long-lasting, colors are truly matte and very pigmented.

Cons: It’s nearly impossible to remove! You will need to use a special oil-based lipstick remover or olive oil. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to apply smoothly as it’s a little dense.

Score: 9/10

Cat-shaped eyelash mascara

Ok, I admit it, I got this mascara not only because the one I had had dried, but because it was SOOOOO cute. I love cat-themed things so I had to get this mascara!

Price: 3.99 USD (~3.6 euro)

Pros: It’s really cute and the formula is not too thick so it’s easy to apply. The effect is very natural (I don’t really like thick, sticky and artificially long eyelashes…).

Cons: None.

Score: 10/10

Lipstick retractable brush

 I don’t know about you, but I find it very difficult to accurately apply lipstick directly from the stick, so I think it’s time I learn how to use a lipstick brush to get better results. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to give my first impressions. The color they sent is random.

Price: 0.99 USD (~0.9 euro)

Pros: Small size, perfect for the purse, retractable.

Cons: The brush material is synthetic and a little stiff, I don’t know if it will be very durable, but it’s OK for the price.

Score: 9/10

Infinity belly chain

I chose this belly chain because I wanted to wear some accessory to the beach/swimming pool.

Price: 2.99 USD (~2.7 euro)

Pros: Cute, gives a nice style to the bikini and the body.

Cons: The material will get oxidized with time, but it’s perfectly normal for a belly chain for less than 3 USD.

Score: 9/10

3D metal and rhinestone nail decoration

I had never seen this kind of nail decoration and it was very princess-looking so I got two pieces in style 2.

Price: 1.58 USD (~1.4 euro)

Pros: Looks really cute, it is reusable by just removing it from the nail and reapplying it.

Cons: Maybe it won’t fit everyone’s nail shape.

Score: 10/10

So that’s it! As you can see, these haul was a mix of good and bad vibes with the items… That’s pretty usual with these Chinese-based shops, I’m really used to these mixed feelings, but overall I think it was a good buy and I really like some of the items.

REVIEW: Liz Lisa Replica Pumps

Hi everyone! As I promised, today I’m gonna make a review about two Liz Lisa pumps I bought some time ago. Both are replicas, as the first ones are not in sale anymore and the other ones were really cheaper as a replica compared to the original ones, so I decided to give the replicas a try. Just a quick advice if you happen to like these pumps: the sizes are usually smaller than we are used to in Europe and USA. Just for reference, I usually wear a EUR37.5 and I bought a Liz Lisa L and they fit perfectly!!! I would say L size is fine for EUR37-38.

 Liz Lisa cream/pink pumps (no link for these pumps as the Taobao seller stopped selling them, sorry :()

I’m not sure which collection they are from as I tried them back in Japan but I fell in love with them. I kept searching for them for days on the Internet but I didn’t found the original ones. Some people were selling them second-hand, but I really preferred a new replica than the second-hand original ones, so I did a search on Taobao and found them there. The pumps are reeeeally high-heeled (about 12 cm), but they have some platform in the front, so they are more comfy to wear. Similarity to Original: 9/10. They are quite the same as the ones I tried in Japan.

Quality: 9/10. There are some little areas where the glue is visible, but for the price they are nearly perfect

Price: 188 yuans (around 28 euro). The price of the original pumps was about 80 euro!

Overall score: 9/10

 Liz Lisa brown suede pumps

I got these pumps later and they are from Liz Lisa’s Twinkle collection. I saw them in Kim Dao’s blog (she’s a really good blogger and a nice person!) and immediately loved them! They are also a replica from Taobao. These pumps are a little less high heeled (around 9 cm) and they have a nice front platform which make them really easy to wear despite the high heel. They are more comfortable than the first ones, but I really love both. Similarity to Original: 10/10. I couldn’t find any difference with the stock photo. They even came with tags.

Quality: 9/10. They are perfect except for a little area in the back of one of the pumps, where some glue is exposed. It’s no big deal though, as the ribbon in the back can be slightly moved and this way you can cover the little flaw.

Price: 188 yuans (around 28 euro).

HUGE TAOBAO HAUL winter/spring 2015!!!

Hi lovelies! Today I’m sharing a huge haul from Taobao. For those of you who hear about Taobao for the first time, Taobao is somewhat like a Chinese Ebay, but way bigger than the original Ebay with respect to clothes, cosplay items, accessories, wigs… It isn’t possible to buy directly if we aren’t Chinese residents, but don’t panic! There is one easy solution: to use a shopping agent. These agents are usually Chinese, and their role is to buy the items we want, send them to their warehouse, check that they are good quality and exactly what you wanted and finally send them to your house. They charge you a 8-10% fee, which I find fair considering that they help us get items which are nearly impossible to find in our countries (unless you live in Asian countries, lucky you!) and they also check carefully the items before sending them.

This is my third Taobao order. The first one was the most difficult, because I spent days doing my research to learn how to buy and what sellers to choose to avoid “surprises” with the quality of the items I wanted. Besides, the products selection was huge, so I found it difficult to only choose some of them! My second order consisted in a pair of replica Liz Lisa shoes. For these two orders y chose Taobaoring as my agent and to date, I’m very happy with their service. This time, I wanted the order to be mostly winter dresses, because I don’t know about you, but in Spain it is very difficult to find cute long-sleeved winter dresses, it’s crazy! And if you get lucky and find any long-sleeved winter dress, it will be a basic solid color dress which I don’t really like. I like gyaru dresses and cute Korean style dresses. Even though short-sleeve dresses are more abundant than long-sleeve dresses in Taobao, you still get to find many cute styles.

Cream Korean dress

Price: 142 yuans (20 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 9/10 This dress was one of my main reasons to make this order. I think that it is an original dress (not a replica) from a Korean brand, since it came really well packed and with tags, as if it was due to be in a shop. The quality is really good and the fabric is thick. In the photo, it has many wrinkles because I had just unpacked it. It looks like a two-piece but it is really a one-piece dress. I give it 9/10 because though I measured myself carefully and chose an S, the dress was a little wide on me. In addition, I expected the skirt part to be longer, but in general it is a good and warm dress for winter/beginning of spring.

Checked Korean style dress

Price: 142 yuans (20 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 10/10 This is the second dress I bought from the same seller. It is a two-piece dress, you can wear it in winter using the cream sweater or you can wear it in spring/summer with the inner part only. This time, the dress fulfilled the promised measures more or less, but still, it doesn’t fit me like the model in the stock photo, even when I’m as thin as her. The quality is also good and the design of the top part is great. The checked skirt part is a little stiff but I guess it will soften when I iron it.

Blue tulle Liz Lisa skirt (replica)

Price: 89.9 yuans (13 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 10/10 This skirt is the first of the Liz Lisa replica clothes I got. Liz Lia is gyaru brand which has really cute and feminine designs, but still being sexy. It usually is a expensive brand, especially if you have to export the clothes from Japan to your country, so I decided to give the Taobao replicas a try. This skirt is really nice. The inner part I blue cotton, soft and comfy, and has some shorts in case it is windy or something like that. There is floral tulle over the cotton part and the combination is really cute. I have never found a skirt like this in Spain, I can’t wait to wear it!

Pink gauze Liz Lisa skirt (replica)

Price: 99,9 yuans (15 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 8.5/10 This skirt was a disappointment at first. Not because of the quality, which is really nice, but because of the difference in the color. You can see in my photo that the color is more like a beige than a blush pink, and I really wanted the skirt in the stock photo color… In addition, the floral design was a little different, but that don’t matter to me considering it is a replica, the problem is the color. However, I have already worn it and it is really comfy and cute. It has also shorts in the inner part, and has a nice volume.

Floral lace Liz Lisa blouse (replica)

Price: 99.9 yuanes (15 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 9.5/10 I really wanted some beautiful blouses for this winter, and I fell in love with this blouse. It is exactly like the stock photo, soft and comfy and very warm. It has two cute little bows in the back and the endings are embellished with lace. The reason for the 9,5 is that I thought it would be more fitted, but it is not a big con.

Batwing Liz Lisa blouse (replica)

Price: 49.9 yuans (7.5 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 9.5/10 This blouse was a last-minute buy because I found it was really cheap and it was cute. It is just as seen on the stock photo except for the cord endings. In the stock photo, they look like wooden endings, but in reality, they are plastic-made and look very cheap. It is easy to fix, I think I will change the ending for some which are better looking. A nice spring blouse in general.

Colour and fantasy stockings (links in the text)

White dots stockings (upper left): 15 yuanes (2 euros aprox.). Just like the stock photo. 10/10.

Thick fantasy stockings (Lower left) (no link, because the seller removed it, sorry): 17 yuanes (2,5 euros aprox.). Good quality and just like the stock photo, but I ordered them in light gray and they sent them in dark grey. I saw the problem in the photo that Taobaoring staff sent me before shipping my entire order, but as the Chinese Holidays were closing in, I decided to accept this color. Nonetheless, 10/10.

Floral stockings (lower center): 17 yuanes (2,5 euros aprox). Just like the stock photo. I got them in light pink. 10/10.

Watermelon capri leggings (lower right): 16 yuanes (2,5 euros aprox.). The fabric is stocking-like, ending in cute lace. Good quality, 10/10

Black & Gold Bra Set

Price: 48 yuanes (7 euros aprox.) Quality & style: 10/10 I love Asian-style lingerie and usually Taobao bra sets have good quality, so I wanted to get some. The price-quality relationship is really good, and usually you will get the chance to accurately choose your size like in a regular lingerie shop, but beware the sizes because sometimes they run a little small. Worth trying though. I give this set a 9/10 because it is a little tight, I will add a bra extender so it gets more comfy. However, it is great quality and sexy. The panties are nice too.

Black satin bra set

Price: 48 yuanes (7 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 10/10 I fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it. It is very elegant and sexy and you get the super push-up look when you wear it! It is also wearable with almost every neck style. The pads can be removed. Just beware the description, because in the photo it looks like a dark gray but it is actually black. The panties are great too.

Pink princess-style bra set

Price: 48 yuanes (7 euros aprox.)

Quality & style: 7/10 This was the biggest disappointment from my order. Not because of the fabric quality, which is nice, but because it doesn’t fit well. It isn’t shape flattering at all. The bow is badly sewed too. When you wear it almost looks like a grandma-style bra, so disappointed because I really liked it in the stock photo… u.u. The panties were great though.

REVIEW: Kissful Lip Care Lip Scrub [Etude House]

Hi everyone!

I start my blogger adventure with a product of the Korean brand Etude House, which is a beauty brand that I’ve always wanted to try seeing how cute the products are (sometimes they are inspired on Disney films like Frozen, or the classic Disney princesses). In addition to this, Etude House products usually have very good reviews on the Internet, so I wanted to give them a try myself. The product that I chose was Kissful Lip Care Lip Scrub.

Some time ago, I didn’t even know that lip scrubs existed! LOL! But one day I went to a makeup class with some friends and I learned about them and their benefits. My lips were softer than ever and suddenly I wondered why I hadn’t know about them before as I usually have dry and chapped lips, especially in winter.

This lip scrub is really cute, I could not find any similar here in Spain, so I’m really delighted.

It also has a really sweet and nice scent, somewhat like peach scent.

Using this lip scrub is really simple: you have to apply a small amount with you finger and spread it over your lips, carefully massaging them and tracing small circles with your finger, paying special attention to the most chapped areas. And that’s all!

Once you are done, your lips will be softer and smell really good. This lip scrub contains tiny “sugar” crystals which are responsible for the exfoliating properties.

You have to take into account that my lips have tendency to get chapped, and in this photo they already looked chapped… u.u In the photo the lips appear shinier but the real effect is the softer and cleaner sensation you get, more than the external look. I think that maybe people with very damaged and chapped lips will not get enough from this product, but for a normal use it is good. I would consider this lip scrub a “maintenance” product more than a repair product.

In summary…

Pros

It’s cheap (I got it from Ebay for 4 Euros, shipping included)

Smells really good (peach scent)

Easy to apply

It’s good for lip maintenance or for lips which don’t need much repair, using the lip scrub once or twice a week

Cons

It’s not deep-cleansing if your lips are really damaged and chapped, it’s a mild lip scrub

Despite its good smell it tastes bad (but it isn’t designed to be eaten, isn’t it? ;)).

Would I buy it again?: Yes, as a mild lip scrub to maintain my lips healthy when they are not too damaged, but not for winter or times when my lips get dryer and chapped.
